Enzo Fernandez has publicly taken aim at the Chelsea hierarchy, making clear that the club’s handling of Enzo Maresca’s departure left the dressing room deeply unsettled.
Speaking to Mexican broadcaster TUDN, Fernandez said: “Sometimes there are things that we as players don’t understand, how and in what way they try to manage things. Obviously, it was a departure that hurt us a lot because we had an identity.”
He added that Maresca “always had a very clear identity when it came to training and playing,” and that his mid-season dismissal “cuts everything short.”
The outburst adds further pressure to an already turbulent period at the club.
Under BlueCo, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, and Enzo Maresca have all come and gone , with Liam Rosenior now tasked with steadying the ship.
Fernandez’s future has come into question, on Real Madrid, when speaking to ESPN Argentina, he said: “There are no talks. Right now I’m focused on Chelsea, we’ll see after the World Cup.”
Contract discussions over fresh salary terms have so far stalled, and Fernandez has made it clear he prioritises the sporting project — and does not want to miss out on Champions League football.
